The Pop Tab Program is a signature fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Annunally, depending on the price of aluminum, this initiative funds 10% of the night stays at the Ronald McDonald House. Collecting pop tabs is a fun and easy way for everyone—young and old—to help the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Pop tabs can be collected: Pop tabs can be turned into any South Dakota McDonalds Restaurant or brought to either Ronald McDonald House (825 South Lake Avenue or 808 East 24th Street) in Sioux Falls. As a part of this on-going project, we are encouraging elementary schools, high schools and colleges across South Dakota to collect pop tabs. A Fun Footnote: Every year South Dakota State University (SDSU) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) compete for a Pop Tab Traveling Trophy. The school to have collected the most pop tabs receives a trophy at the second basketball game of the year. SDSU won the trophy in 2010 with a whooping 441 lbs of pop tabs. SDSU combined their tabs with the local elementary and high schools to reach their goal. Thank you to both schools for helping kids everywhere.
